Industrial Private 5G Networks Market to Reach USD 24.6 Billion by 2033 as Manufacturers, Mines and Ports Move from Pilots to Production, Says Epignosis Insights

Epignosis Insights today released its latest study, Private 5G Networks Market: Growth Opportunities for Industrial Connectivity, 2026–2033. The report estimates that the global private 5G networks market for industrial connectivity was valued at USD 3.4 billion in 2025 and will reach USD 24.6 billion by 2033, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 28.3% from 2026.

The study finds that private 5G is moving out of innovation labs and into everyday industrial operations. Active industrial private 5G sites are projected to grow from roughly 14,500 in 2025 to about 96,000 by 2033, while average annual spend per site is expected to rise from approximately USD 234,000 to USD 256,000 as networks support more use cases and on-premises AI workloads.

Industrial buyers are no longer asking whether private 5G works," said a Senior Research Analyst at Epignosis Insights. "They are asking which sites justify it, which deployment model fits their skills and budgets, and which partner will support the network for the long term. That shift from experimentation to production planning is what drives our growth outlook.

Key Findings

• 5G is now the default for new builds. Industry association GSA reports that 86% of new private network customer references logged in 2026 used 5G, either alone or alongside LTE.

• Services will become the largest spending layer. Radio access accounts for about 34% of spend in 2026, but integration and managed services, at about 32%, are growing fastest and are expected to lead by 2033.

• Mobile automation leads demand. AGV and AMR fleet coordination, machine-vision quality inspection, and predictive maintenance are the most mature, high-value industrial use cases.

• Ports, discrete manufacturing, and mining offer the strongest near-term opportunity based on the Epignosis vertical opportunity heatmap.

• Europe remains the largest region by customer references, at about 36.6% according to GSA, followed by North America at 32%. Asia-Pacific and emerging regions show the fastest growth momentum.

Spectrum Policy Is Unlocking Enterprise Demand

The report highlights a strong link between adoption and access to enterprise spectrum. Germany's Bundesnetzagentur recorded 484 local network assignments in the 3.7–3.8 GHz band by November 2025, while Ofcom's Shared Access framework in the UK prices 3.8–4.2 GHz spectrum at £80 per 10 MHz per year. In China, eight government bodies led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have set a target of 50,000 industrial 5G private networks by 2030, and India's 2026 captive network authorization rules have created a new route for enterprises to operate their own networks.

Wherever regulators make spectrum simple and affordable for enterprises, we see qualified demand follow," the analyst added. "That makes spectrum policy one of the most reliable leading indicators for where private 5G suppliers should invest.

A Market Being Reshaped by Supplier Strategy

The research also notes significant changes in the supplier landscape. AWS has retired its Private 5G service, Microsoft discontinued its Azure private 5G core in September 2025, and Nokia has placed its Enterprise Campus Edge unit into a portfolio segment earmarked for sale while continuing to focus on mission-critical networks. Ericsson says it continues to serve hundreds of enterprise private 5G customers through a dedicated enterprise wireless unit. Epignosis Insights expects these moves to create openings for operators, systems integrators, industrial automation vendors and specialist network providers.
